WHISKY SOUR
Sour
Light, smooth and refreshing, the Whisky Sour is a classic for a reason, and remains a favorite easy drink recipe for whisky lovers. The recipe for a Whisky Sour may have evolved over time to include egg white for a creamy texture, but the full-bodied whisky flavor and refreshing sharp lemon notes remain the same timeless combination. This recipe calls for egg white, but you can use equal parts aquafaba (chickpea water) instead.

WHISKY SOUR HISTORY
The Whisky Sour can be traced back to sailors in the 1700s. Sailors would bring large amounts of spirits on their journeys – such as whisky. They also brought citrus fruits, like lemon, to prevent scurvy. They married lemons with the long-lasting liquor, and the whisky sour was born.
WHAT WHISKY IS BEST FOR A WHISKY SOUR?
To balance the Whisky Sour’s strong flavors, we recommend Chivas Extra 13 Sherry Cask. This whisky is partly matured in Oloroso sherry casks, which gives it flavors of sweet pears in syrup, cinnamon and crisp almonds – a perfect complement to this crowd-pleasing cocktail. Chivas 12 is also an excellent option.
